Below is the letter that was sent home. Along with the letter was attached the parent flyers for Xtramath and ReflexMath.
Dear Parents, After careful consideration and research, the third grade teachers have decided to change the homework policy. We will no longer be assigning required homework to be turned in each Thursday. Students will still receive a weekly list of spelling words. It is your choice as a family as to how they choose to study those words to prepare for their spelling test each Friday. We still encourage students to practice their math facts and read at home. We will supply you with a list of websites for practice as well as a pdf document with additional resources. 1. Go to www.google.com 2. In the upper right hand corner, click "Sign In". 3. Your child will use the same school login information (email and password) they use at school on the Chromebook. Please send me an email if your child cannot remember their password. 4. They will then click on the Google Classroom icon in the upper right hand corner (It's the green rectangle with the yellow border). If this is not working, you can click on google apps to find the ‘chalkboard’ picture. 5. Then click on their classroom (2017 Mrs. Fry). 6. Then click on the assignment you would like to review. (This will take you straight to Edulastic.)7. The latest test score will show up! If you are looking for previous tests (which we don't have any others at this time) then click "assignments" on the left hand side. All assignments will pop up. Parent Letter Sent Home 8/16 Dear Parents/Guardians, As a district we have adopted a program called Edulastic. This program allows students to take in class assessments and complete assignments online. These are not additional assessments/assignments. These are the assessments/assignments the students would already be completing, but instead of doing them paper/pencil this system allows us to create them in an online format. We are using this to help provide more timely feedback as well as to prepare them for the state assessments that are all online. Each student has their own account. Since these are online and this is a new system, I am not able to print paper copies of student responses and send them home. However, the online system offers you everything a paper copy would (their grade, but also which questions they missed, what they responded, and what the appropriate response was). It will also show you how they are performing on the specific state standard. I have listed below directions for how to see your students assessments and assignments from home. Please let me know if you have any questions! |
